IT'S SUCH A...GOOD VIBRATION

Boneman throwing shakas with Mark Wahlberg on the storied turf of Franklin Field on the set of the movie Invincible. The movie is based on the true story of Vince Papale, played by Mark Wahlberg, who became a member of the Philadelphia Eagles as a 30-year-old in an open tryout. He's the oldest rookie to make an NFL team (excluding kickers) who never played college ball. Greg Kinnear plays Eagles coach Dick Vermeil. The movie is being filmed here through the month of August, and the release date is unknown.

A shot from the stands of a scene about to be filmed where Mark Wahlberg takes a big hit on the sidelines. It took seven attempts to get this shot, and he was taking a huge hit every time.
Here's where I'm going to take you behind the scenes to show you some Hollywood magic. From a distance, it looks like the lower half of the stadium is filled....

However, upon closer inspection, you can see how they save money on extras...

My first shot on the field. They are shooting the scene where Mark breaks off the line of scrimmage, then takes a big hit on the sidelines. They were the only three players on the field while shooting this scene.

After Mark left the set, they started filming the "extra point" shot. I don't want to give a spoiler away here, but the Giants go for the two point conversion. I won't tell you if they convert.

Mark Wahlberg on his scooter before I got my picture with him

A closer shot of the fans snapped from a distance shows that they are just torsos with no legs.

A shot of the tents on the field for the crew. It was a hot day out there, so I grabbed a F-R double E Gatorade later when I walked down under them! Mark Wahlberg's scooter is in the foreground.

CALIFORNIA LOVE

In a previous post, I mentioned that I would have some domestic travel responsibilities this year. Those responsibilities came in today. At the end of September, I'll be heading to San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose for a week. Sweet! This trip will be difficult, because I return from Sydney on September 20th, and will have to be in San Diego on the 26th. But I have not visited three of these cities, so I'm excited to see them.

HOME SWEET HOME...

A view of the stadium complex on approach to Philadelphia International Airport this morning.
